Being married to a Londoner, I’ve started to get more familiar with this upbeat, global city. I’ve collected a smattering of my favorite spots from over the years that live on my recommendation list for friends. My London to-do list revolves around some of my interests like parks and green spaces, tasty food, and the arts. While I don’t frequent the main tourist staples like Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, my to-do’s in London do include some other tried-and-true favorites, as well as some quirkier options.

Eat and Drink Your Way Around this Global City

While the Sky Garden is definitely on the map of more touristy establishments, it is well worth it. What a fantastic city skyline for anytime of day. I was lucky enough to enjoy one of my first dates with my husband here! Visiting the Sky Garden is free to the public.

Greek food on the Thames anyone? We greatly enjoyed our nibbles at the Real Greek and people-watching along Bankside.

I stumbled upon this pizza spot near Kensington Gardens and around the corner from the famous Churchill Arms pub. The toasty crust was authentic, delicious and they had gluten-free options.

Sticks N Sushi is a reliable fave with restaurants all over the city!

Greenwich Market is the prime destination for a hungry tourist wanting to nibble on a global offering of cuisines. I love the Ethopian stand here.

London’s Welcoming Parks

Clapham Common is the perfect spot for people-watching, a Sunday stroll or having a picnic in the park.

Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are tried-and-true classics.

Primrose Hill is the sight of a number of movie scenes and offers sweeping views of the city skyline.

I found out about the Kyoto Garden in Holland Park from another travel blog. Be sure to check out the life-sized chess game! This is now one of my new favorite spots in London.

The West End is a Must!

For excellent theater, London’s West End is where to go. With an abundance of options for amazing live shows, cheap tickets and great food nearby, the Theatre district is such a fun spot to spend a night.

Cheers!
